How to write a successful application
Our Teacher Training Adviser (TTA) service is a free service that provides you with tailored, one-to-one support from an experienced teacher throughout the application process.
Alessandro applied for teacher training last year. Here he talks about his experience of working with a Teacher Training Adviser and how it helped him to submit a successful application.
“My experience with my TTA began in May 2017 when I started exploring opportunities for a career change. I contacted Get Into Teaching and they immediately assigned Lisa as my Teacher Training Adviser.
Initially, given the amount of documentation to read, I was a bit overwhelmed, but with the support of Lisa — her communications by email covering all topics and always full of useful information — I started to have a better overview of the application process.
The previous year, unfortunately, my application was not successful due to my lack of experience in schools in the UK. But with Lisa’s support and encouragement I decided to try again the following year.
Before the new applications opened in September 2017, Lisa had already sent me all the necessary information, explained in great detail, so that I could fill in the gaps from the previous year and follow the steps necessary to complete the application.
She supported me in difficult times during my period as a supply teacher in a secondary school, where I was extremely busy dealing with the end of year examinations and the teacher training interviews. She gave me advice and help with preparing for these and how to be successful.
When she was not available, she would always send a text message asking me when I could be contacted. She even called me on a Saturday as she knew that it was my only available day. It was definitely a very positive experience. Lisa’s professionalism and empathy are two essential attributes, from my point of view, to carry out her difficult role.”
